Faster creation time and table changes

What's new

  1. Faster document creation - Word documents are created faster from Synergy after you convert your existing document templates to the DOCX file format. read more
  2. Proposal templates - Extra table added to a fee proposal which allows you to show the sub project details, sub project note, and sub project attributes. read more
  3. Credit note templates - The fee detail table for credit notes now includes the rows for capped rates billing, and phases grouping options. read more

 

Why use it - create your Synergy MS Word® documents faster after converting your document templates to the DOCX format. Proposal documents let you add a new table with a sub project summary that includes your custom sub project attributes. Credit notes allow you to display the sub project or phase breakdowns on the credit note documents.

Forecast Filters in Reports

 

 

New filters added in project forecast reports

What's new

  1. Where - new forecast filter group available in Project and Sub Project level forecast reports.
  2. Types - filter by values found in the forecast fees, invoices, residual, or monthly forecast values. Compare one forecast value field against another, restrict the results shown in Synergy reports.

 

Why use it - filter out $0 forecast rows from your reports to find only the Projects or Sub Projects with forecast values entered with the new Forecast filters.

Phases in reports and document templates

What's new

  1. Reports - phase name column and filters are available to add to Sub Project, Transaction, and Invoice Detail reports.
  2. Document templates - phase name bookmarks can be added to the sub project table in proposal, project, letter, and invoice templates. The phase name can also be added to the invoice claim lines table in an invoice template.

 

Why use it - easily show clients and internal teams the project phase grouping details, by displaying the phase name next to the sub project name on reports and document templates outputs.

Changing the Fee Type on invoiced sub projects

What's new

  1. Fee Types - change allowed for an invoiced sub project to be changed to the fee types of 'fixed fee', 'percent of project', or 'capped rates'. Change to 'No Billing' fee type is not supported, and the change is not allowed when any draft invoices exist.
  2. Fee Value - the fee value of the sub project must be equal or greater than the current total invoiced value for Sub Projects with the fee types of 'fixed fee', 'percent of project' or 'capped rates'.
  3. % Complete - the % complete can be entered in a new field on the General tab of a sub project for the fee types of 'fixed fee' or 'percent of project'.
  4. Project Audit - changes to the sub project fee type are tracked in the project audit.

 

Why use it - switch the invoicing method (fee type) mid-way through the life of a sub project.

Draft Invoice Numbers

 

 

Assign an invoice number to a draft invoice

What's new

  1. Draft Invoice Number - click on the blue text 'Invoice #' to assign a number to a draft invoice.
  2. Filter - extra filter for 'draft' invoices has been added to Invoice Maintenance List. This will show any invoice at draft status, including the items with a number assigned.
  3. Search - lookup the keyword 'draft' in the invoice number field and any invoices at draft status are shown. This includes any draft invoices with a invoice number assigned in the results.

 

Why use it - allow your finance team to review the completed invoice document with the included invoice number, before the invoice is finalised and ready to be sent to the client.

Contacts

 

 

Merge records and easier look-ups

What's new

  1. Merge duplicate contacts - combine duplicate contact records, and move all the items linked to the deleted contact across to the master contact that has been kept in Synergy. Linked items can be personnel, supplier expenses, notes, and project links like invoices, transmittals, and project contacts.
  2. Contact look-up - when creating a new contact record a check for duplicate records has been added. Type part of the contact name and similar existing contact records are shown in a list.
  3. Position column - view the position of the personnel record with this new column in the Project Contacts tab.

 

Why use it - clean-up your contact list by combining duplicated records, and minimise the duplicates created in the future by reading the contact look-up list shown when adding new records. When viewing the contact personnel tab use the position column to know which person to call at that company about your query.

Synergy Cloud Services

 

 

Extra features and new style applied

What's new

  1. New style - all areas of Synergy Cloud Services have had their style updated. New colour scheme, toolbar style, list format, and tab format have been applied.
  2. Sub Projects - within a Project you can view the Phases and Sub Projects entered in the desktop application.
  3. Attributes in Projects and Contacts - extra tabs have been added Projects and Contacts in the cloud to allow you to read the attributes entered in the desktop application.
  4. Phases in Timesheets - see the Phase name in the Sub Project drop down list when entering timesheets or expenses (cash or travel) in the cloud app.
  5. Time and Expenses Lock Date - when the time and expenses lock date is set in the desktop application, then the rule is enforced in the cloud app. Timesheets and expenses cannot be added in a locked period, and only the note on these locked transactions can be edited. This makes the time and expenses functionality in the cloud app the same as the desktop application.
  6. Usage page - see which users are using Synergy Cloud Services at your company in the usage page found in the Accounts area.

 

Why use it - see more details inside Projects and Contacts in the cloud app, and use the easier entry method for timesheets. Check which of your staff are accessing Synergy Cloud Services to enter their timesheets via the Accounts Usage Page.

  1. Desktop - the help files have a responsive design, which automatically adjust to best fit your PC, laptop, tablet or mobile screen.
  2. Cloud - the help files have a responsive design, which automatically adjust to best fit your PC, laptop, tablet or mobile screen. The help in Synergy Cloud Services is also content sensitive, which opens the help topic relevant to the page in the app that is being viewed.

 

Why use it - easily review the Synergy help files on a desktop PC, tablet or mobile phone.

MYOB Connect for AccountRight Live

 

Network company file support and more...

What's new

  1. MYOB AccountRight Live 2014.4 and 2015.1 Support - Connect supports the updated API interface in the 2014.4 version of MYOB AccountRight Live.
  2. Network Company Files - support added to allow your MYOB company file to be stored on a server in your network.
  3. Export Payments - 'invoice date' column added to the export payment preview tab.
  4. Cloud company files - better handling for when the connection speed from Synergy to the MYOB cloud is slow.
  5. Negative sub project lines - when a discount sub project is setup in Synergy, the negative sub project invoice line is now attached to the MYOB AccountRight Live invoice. This avoids the negative row showing as a credit note that needs to be manually applied to the invoice in MYOB. The invoice with the discount in MYOB AccountRight Live matches Synergy.

New Zealand company files and Supplier expense filters (AU/NZ)

What's new

  1. NZ MYOB 19.5 - support added for MYOB Version 19.5 (Classic) for MYOB New Zealand. Sync your invoices, credit notes, supplier expenses, staff expenses and payments to company files with this MYOB NZ version.
  2. Supplier expense filters - extra filters added to include/exclude selected 'office' locations. This allows the transfer of supplier expenses from the Australia office to one MYOB company file, and the New Zealand expense to another MYOB company file.

Xero Connect

 

Invoice and Credit note changes

What's new

  1. Negative sub project lines - when a discount sub project is setup in Synergy, the negative sub project invoice line is now attached to the Xero invoice. This avoids the negative row showing as a credit note that needs to be manually applied to the invoice in Xero. The invoice with the discount matches in Xero and Synergy.

Transmittals

 

Document template changes

What's new

  1. Change template - the document template assigned to a transmittal can be changed. The document template can be changed at any transmittal status: i.e. draft, approved, or sent.
  2. Audit - changes to the document template assigned to each transmittal are tracked in the Project Audit.

 

Why use it - change the transmittal to use a new document template layout style, to re-print the transmittal summary document which was already marked as 'sent' to your client.

Rate change report

What's new

  1. Report on the current rates - new report available that lists the project and sub project specific staff rate values. The report also displays the current staff rate values, with an audit included of all previous staff rate changes.
  2. Download the report layout - download the 'rate summary report' from the online library to send all the rate details to MS Excel for easy data analysis.

 

Why use it - view which projects or sub projects have specific rates applied, and the history of the rate changes.

Work Breakdown

 

Totals for time and expenses

What's new

  1. Grouping changes - the grouping within each sub project for time and expenses has been removed. This allows you to easily re-order all the items required for a sub project, without having to place the expenses at the end of the list.
  2. Totals for Hours and Units - The Hours column totals the time, and the Units column totals the expenses for each sub project or phase.

 

Why use it - view the budgeted hours for staff time or units for expenses against each phase or sub project.

Project Copy

 

More Sub Project details copied

What's new

  1. Budgets - the budget notes are now copied across to the new project.
  2. Tasks - custom sub project tasks used in the budget are copied. In addition the active / inactive flag for the default timesheet tasks are copied over to the new sub project.*
  3. Colours - any colours assigned to the project, sub project, or tasks are copied over to the new project.*

 

* Custom tasks and colours are part of the Resource Management module for Synergy Enterprise clients only.

 

Why use it - create a template project in Synergy and copy across all the details to quickly start a new Proposal Project.
