Learn how to upgrade the Synergy Server to the latest release. The steps below are required if you have the 4.7.4 release or prior currently installed on your Synergy Server.

Before you start upgrading Synergy to the latest version, please complete the following steps.
The installation files to upgrade to that latest version are available in Synergy Cloud Services within the Downloads area. Download this ZIP file which contains all the upgrade files required to upgrade from an older version of Synergy to the latest release.

Tip: You will require access to the Support area in Synergy Cloud Services to download these files. Contact Synergy Support if you need assistance with this.
How to extract the downloaded files using Windows Explorer:
Make sure you are using the Administrator account login on the server, before you start to install Synergy.
All Synergy users must be logged out before you can begin the upgrade process.
Use the Administration Tools > Logged in Users list to check if everyone has exited Synergy.
The setup process will download and install all the Synergy prerequisites automatically, when they are not already installed on the server.
The server may reboot as part of the prerequisite install process.
Download all the required files from Synergy Cloud Services in a ZIP file using the link below:

Which step you will begin from in this document will depend on what version of Synergy is currently installed on the server. Check the Synergy version that is installed on the server by:

Use the version number you located in Part E above to determine which step in this topic you need to begin the upgrade process from. The upgrade to the latest release of Synergy is a multi step process if an older version of Synergy is currently installed.

Please make sure you are logged into the server using the Administrator account before beginning the steps below.
Follow the steps below if you currently have one of these Synergy versions installed: 4.6.2, 4.6.3, 4.7.0, or 4.7.1. Click here if you have a different version of Synergy installed.

After upgrading to the Synergy 4.7.2 release it is required to update the following SQL Server settings.
After upgrading to Synergy 4.7.2 release the following error message may be shown. This advises that the SQL log files settings are not setup correctly, and these steps will help to resolve this error.
The log file settings are setup in SQL Server Management Studio. Open this application by:

Next we need to use the Compact and Repair feature that is located within the Synergy Database Menu.

Before we can upgrade Synergy to the next release the latest patch must be installed on the server. Complete the steps below to install '4.7.2 Maintenance Patch 16'.
