There are quite a few database utilities available. Here we explore the different options.

Tips:
View a list of users, where you have the ability to remove them from the system.
Refer to Logged in Users topic in Administration tools for more information.
Tip: Only users with System Administrator access level can use this feature.
Tips:
The MSI Installer package for Synergy allows you to complete the installation silently to multiple network computers. This allows the Synergy application to be install on each of the users computers, without any interruption. This can be useful in a large organisation, where many computers require Synergy to be installed.

When the database is first created, the application 'connects' to the database. This connection is also established between each PC in your office and is maintained in an XML file.
If any part of the database server details change such as the SQL password or SQL Server name, this file can be recreated, so when it's used to connect a PC to the database, the details will be correct.
A license file will be created to coincide with your subscription renewal date, upon receipt of payment. When the license file is received it can be imported here. Log all users out of first.
However, when payment is received the updated license file will be uploaded online and automatically applied to the database.
If you're prompted to upgrade the database, select this option. Read more on database upgrade.
Run a quick backup, create a batch file for SQL Express or schedule a backup for SQL 2000 or SQL 2005.
Locate Create a backup to find out more.
If you require to revert to a backup that may be 2 or 3 days old, use this option to restore a previous backup. NOTE all data entered since the date of the backup WILL BE LOST. We strongly recommend you create a quick backup before doing a system restore.
Tip: The Synergy directory is not restored, as this does not get backed up.
If you're performing system maintenance and require all users to not enter the database, select Lock Database. Remember to Unlock database when you're done.
Compact truncates the log file so that it is empty, and repair re-organises the indexes so they take less space on the disk and this also has the effect of improving the performance of the database.
Tip: This action is performed automatically when an upgrade is performed.
This is the database that exists on the SQL Instance name e.g. Synergy on SERVER01\Synergy.
This is the actual name of your database. This name is required when making a connection from the PC to the database server (where the database is located).
When the database is created it is created using an SQL instance. Depending on the SQL instance used, will depend on where the physical location of the database will reside.
Synergy requires a folder to exist on your network that is used to store document templates, note documents, where invoices are saved automatically and where project and contract folders are created. It's also used to store the latest version installer package and the help files. This directory cannot be renamed or parts of Synergy will not function. It can reside anywhere on the network and must be shared for other users to gain access to it.
The latest version is 4.9.10. The 4 represents the technology platform we're developing on. So when we change technologies this is a major change to the application therefore we increase the first digit.
The 9 represents that it's a main release, so we may aim to release 2-3 versions which are main releases, each year. The 10 represents the revision made after the initial main release, so it may go through a few revisions before the software is finally released to the market.
The version of SQL that the Synergy database resides on will be displayed, when it was installed.
The License To represents who has purchased the software and agreed to the terms and conditions as set out in the software agreement.
Users
Users represents the number of concurrent users that are allowed to access the database at any one time, whereas if you're licensed for power users and users then the access permission will depend on the numbers for each type. For example: You’ve purchased 5 power users and 10 timesheet users. In the list of staff there are 8 people with a star against their login. There can only be 5 people here with a star against their login and they can access the system at any point in time - the license access is reserved for staff allocated with a power license. All other staff will have the 'User' access level assigned and they need to share the access. So once 3 are logged in, no more staff can gain access.
Expires
The expiry is the anniversary of your license agreement or the due date for payment of your subscription and will need to be paid. If payment is not received, then the license will expire. If the license expires you can not gain access to the database.
