Document Templates

Keep local copies of templates to improve access times across the network

This setting was introduced to bypass the Protected View settings that were enforced on an individuals PC when using MS Office® 2010. Check this option to ensure the creating of documents from Synergy is seamless and error free. you may notice that accessing documents across the network that reside outside of Synergy are still causing you problems. In that event you can change the protected view settings on the PC.

What happens when the documents are copied locally?

  1. Each time a document is accessed through Synergy, the document template is copied locally to a directory on the users PC.
  2. Each time the user generates a new document a new version of the local template is copied only if changes have been made to the template on the server.
  3. If the local template has not been used in a week it will be deleted from the local PC.
  4. The process is repeated each time a template is accessed by a user.

To find out where the local templates reside, go to Synergy > Help > About, click the Application Data option. All templates can be located in the Template Copies directory.
