Edit document template names

Use these instructions to edit the Synergy document template or the template file name.

Tips:

Change the template name in the Synergy registry

  1. Double click a template from the list.
  2. Change the Template Name.
  3. Save and Close.

Change the file name of the template

This step is changing the name of the physical document as stored in windows explorer. Keep in mind though, the template name in the application and the template name on the data server don't need to be the same - though it is a good idea.

  1. Change the Template name as above.
  2. You will notice a Template File path - this displays the full path where the template resides.  Make a note of the .dot template name i.e. Proposal.dot.
  3. Click the Browse button .
  4. The Templates directory on the server will appear.
  5. Highlight the template as noted above i.e. Proposal24.dot.
  6. Right click the template and select rename.
  7. Type the new name for the template i.e. 2 Page Proposal ensure the .dot remains, if you can't see it to begin with that is OK.
  8. Press enter.
  9. Select the template from the Templates directory you've just renamed.
  10. Select Open.  You are returned to the Document template screen.
  11. Save .

Tip: It's important not to open Windows Explorer (My Computer) and navigate to the Synergy directory and change the names of the MS Word® documents. If you do this, the application won't be able to recognise the template - it's important to "map" the application so it knows which template to use .
