The fee that will be charged to the client can be based on a % value of the overall construction cost of the project. The Sub Project fee charge can then be worked out as a % value of this Construction Cost Fee Value. The advantage of entering this information onto the Project is that you can then display these details to your clients on Proposal and Invoice documents generated with Synergy Document Templates.

Tip: Enable Construction Costs in the Sub Project System Settings.
I have a Project with a $1,000,000 Construction Cost, and $9000 in Variations with a fee percentage of 13%. The example below shows that once you enter this data the Project Construction Fee $ is calculated.
My Construction Fee $ needs to be split across 4 of my Sub Projects, and the total % split must equal 100%. The Construction Fee $ will be used as the Sub Project Fee. The example below shows the Sub Project Construction Fee $ is calculated automatically once the Construction Fee % is entered.
Bookmarks are available to display the Construction Cost % and $ values on Proposal and Invoice Document Templates.
Tip: Learn how to create a Document Template.
A negative value can be entered in the Variations field. This will automatically lower the Construction Fee, that will also then reduce the Sub Project Construction Fee.
When Construction Costs are entered, the Construction Fee $ replaces the existing Sub Project Fee.
Take care to enter accurate Construction Fee and Sub Project Construction Fee % breakdown, as this will overwrite the Sub Project Fee.
If you amend the Variations or Total Construction Value fields the Construction Fee value will be updated.
Increase in Construction Fee
All Sub Projects will be automatically updated to the increased Construction Fee $, the Construction Fee % will not be changed.
Decrease in Construction Fee
All Sub Projects not Invoiced to 100% will be automatically updated. On Sub Projects Invoiced to 100%, the Construction Fee $ will change however the Construction Fee % will not.
The Project in the example below shows the Total Construction Value decreased from $1,000,000 to $900,000, which reduced the Project Construction Fee to $118,170.
The Schematic Design Sub Project is shown as Invoiced and 100% Complete. The Schematic Design Construction Fee of $13,117 was not updated by this change as it is 100% invoiced. The overall Sub Project Construction Fee % total is now 101.10%. The incomplete Sub Projects are adjusted to have a lower Construction Fee $. The construction fee % needs to be reduced by 1.1% before the changes can be saved.
Tip: Before you can save and close, you will need to adjust the Construction Fee % on any incomplete Sub Projects until the total equals 100%.
