Follow the instructions in this topic to install SQL Express 2014 Edition on the Synergy Server.
Instructions for install
This installation may take longer than 15 mins. The time taken will depend on how many of the required components are already installed on your server.
Please select from the install types below, and follow the linked instructions:
Automatic
Install - Click here to begin these instructions now.
Recommended - This is a pre-configured installation of SQL for your server, designed to make installing SQL easier. You will be able to click 'Next' through each screen. If you do not already have SQL installed on your server, please follow the steps below for this recommended install process.
Enterprise
or Standard Edition Install
If you are already using SQL Enterprise or Standard editions on the server, please locate the installation CD or files provided by Microsoft. Contact Microsoft if you require assistance installing this version for SQL server.
Download
now via Synergy Cloud Services
Click below to download the file from Support area in Synergy Cloud Services.
Unzip
this file to your server and then proceed with the Install Instructions.
Tip: More details about SQL Express 2014 installation can be found in the Microsoft online documentation.
Recommended - This is a pre-configured installation of SQL. Click next on each screen, as we have done the setup work for you.
Please login as the administrator account
before starting the install process.
Step
1: Run the installer
Launch SQL 2014 (64 bit) Express installer by running the file 'Setup_x64.bat'.
Find this in the file in the location you unzipped the downloaded files to from Synergy Cloud Services.
Do not run the .exe file within the Manual SQL Install folder.
If User Account Control (UAC) is enabled on the server, click Yes to start the SQL setup process.

If a 'choose directory' prompt is shown it is recommended that you leave this to the default path, and click the 'OK' button.
Recommended to click OK on directory prompt.
Step 2: License Terms
Check the 'I accept the license terms' box to agree to the Microsoft license terms, then click Next.

Step 3: Product Updates
If any product updates are available then they will be downloaded and installed during the initial setup process.
Click Next if a screen like below is shown. This is not shown in most cases.

Step 4: Feature Selection
Leave the settings as default, and click next.

Step 5: Instance Configuration
Ensure the named instance is 'SYNERGY'. Click next.

Step 6: Server Configuration
Click next.

Step 7: Database Engine Configuration
Set a password for the SQL Instance.
Tip: Your Synergy consultant will need this information. Please take note of the password entered on this screen.

Step 9: Error Reporting
Click next if this window is shown, and the installation process will begin.

Step 10: Installation Progress
The install of SQL Express 2014 will begin. This process will take a few minutes to complete.

Step 11: Installation Complete
Check the results show that SQL has been installed successfully. If not please contact Synergy Support.
Click Close to exit the install wizard.
