Set PC connection to database

1. Select Start > All Programs > Total Synergy.
2. Select the Synergy Practice Management application. 
3. Select Get Connected.  A connection wizard will appear. 
4. Select Connect to an existing database

1. Select Browse the network.  Browse to the Synergy data directory on the database server, where you will will see a file Default Database Connection.xml.  Highlight and then select Open.
2. Click Login from the left hand panel .  The login screen will appear.  Select a name from the user name selection.  The password is case sensitive.  The login selected will be remembered next time you log in.

NOTE you can set the system to bypass the login screen refer to the Security System settings topic for more information.

1. Select Enter the settings.  The Connection wizard will appear. 
2. Fill in the details as per below:

Server Name - this will be the SQL instance name i.e. <server_name>\Synergy

Database Name - type Synergy

SQL User Name - this is always sa unless otherwise stipulated if using SQL Enterprise Edition and not SQL Express Edition

Password - the default is either 'Synergy2008' for SQL2008 R2 edition, or 'Synergy2012' for SQL 2012, or 'Synergy2014' for SQL2014 Express edition.

3. Select Finish.  The login screen will appear.  Select a user, type the password and press Enter.

1. Select Enter the settings.  The Connection wizard will appear.
2. Now if you've previously created a connection to the Synergy database using Browse the Network, we'll utilise this to connect to the demo database.
3. Click Previous settings.
4. In the drop down SynergyDemo should be in the list.  Select this.
5. Check the details.  If it doesn't say SynergyDemo, add this to the database name as in the following example:

Server Name - this will be the SQL instance name i.e. <server_name>\Synergy

Database Name - type SynergyDemo (no spaces)

SQL User Name - this is always sa unless otherwise stipulated if using SQL Enterprise Edition and not SQL Express Edition

Password - the default is either 'Synergy2008' for SQL2008 R2 edition, or 'Synergy2012' for SQL 2012, or 'Synergy2014' for SQL2014 Express edition.

6. Select Finish.  The login screen will appear.  Select a user, type the password and press Enter.
