MS Outlook® 2013 - Synergy plugin is disabled

Problem

After opening MS Outlook® 2013 the Synergy Outlook plug-in cannot be found. The plugin has been disabled.

If MS Outlook® 2013 takes too long to open then other plugin's may become disabled. This process is completed automatically by MS Outlook®. A yellow banner appears at the top of MS Outlook®, and when you select to view the details an pop-up like the image below is shown.

Solution

How to resolve this error depends on how MS Outlook® is configured on your network. Try one of the options below to re-enable the Synergy outlook plug-in.

Option 1

If the MS Outlook® disabled plugin warning is still shown then:

  1. In MS Outlook® click the view more details on the disabled plugin warning.
  2. Select the 'Always enable this add-in' option.
  3. Click Close.
  4. Close MS Outlook® and re-open to view the Synergy plugin.

Option 2

If the disabled plugin warning cannot be found, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Synergy plugin. Close MS Outlook® on your computer before completing these steps.

  1. Within Synergy go to the User Settings Menu > Links tab.
  2. Check the 'Use Administrator Privileges' box.
  3. Select the 'Remove' button.
  4. Wait for the uninstall of the MS Outlook® plugin to complete.
  5. Select the 'Install' button.
  6. Wait for the installation of the MS Outlook® to complete, and then re-open MS Outlook®.
  7. On the disabled plugin banner warning shown in MS Outlook®, click to view more details.
  8. Select the 'Always enable this add-in' option.
  9. Click Close.
  10. Close MS Outlook® and re-open to view the Synergy plugin.

Tip: Check what plugins are enabled in MS Outlook® by going to File > Options > Add-ins. Select to manage 'COM Add-ins' and press Go. In this list you can see if the Synergy plugin-in is enabled or disabled.
