Using Xero with Windows 8 and Google Chrome

Problem

The error 'Synergy stopped working' is shown when using the 'Request a new code' button in the Xero Connect Wizard.

Synergy was opened using the 'Run As Administrator option, and the computer has Windows 8 installed and Google Chrome setup as the default browser.

Solution

This issue is related to the version of Google Chrome installed on the computer. To resolve this problem:

  1. Uninstall Google Chrome using Add Remove Programs within Control Panel.
  2. Download the Chrome installer from Google.
  3. Reinstall the Google Chrome browser.
  4. When you next try to use Xero to 'request a new code' the process will work as expected.
