Move Synergy directory

Carry out the following steps if you are wanting to move the physical location of the Synergy directory and it's contents.

Move the Synergy folder

There will be a folder called Synergy either directly in C:\ or in your data directory on the server. This folder needs to be moved to your desired location: 

Before you Start

ENSURE ALL USERS HAVE CLOSED ALL DOCUMENTS AND DRAWINGS

STORED WITHIN THE Synergy FOLDER and

REMAIN OUT UNTIL SUCH TIME THE Synergy DIRECTORY IS IN PLACE

ClosedComplete the following steps:
  1. Do this on the server by copy and pasting.
  2. Once copied delete the old Synergy folder.
  3. Share this directory for all users.

Change the Synergy folder location

  1. Open Synergy.
  2. Tools > Office Settings > Network. Type the network path in the field as follows: 
ClosedScenario 1

\\New Server

Synergy needs to locate our directory within the server name. Even if the Synergy folder resides within a few sub folders, it will still be located.

If you receive an error that the path entered can’t be located, you need to ensure the Synergy directory is shared to all users OR use Scenario 2:

ClosedScenario 2

\\New Server\Company Files

If the Synergy directory needs to reside in a subdirectory, but the sub directory is not fully shared.  

Tip: There is no need to type Synergy at the end of the Network path eg. \\New Server\Synergy OR \\New Server\Company Files\Synergy.
