Synergy Cloud Services Setup

This topic provides an overview of how Synergy Cloud Services works, and what is required to complete each part of the initial setup process. Synergy Cloud Services is available to all Foundation or Enterprise clients.

What are Synergy Cloud Services?

Synergy Cloud Services give Synergy clients the opportunity to store and protect their Synergy data in the cloud so they can access it quickly through any online web browser – at meetings, on site or at home. Data is automatically synchronised between the cloud and the Synergy database in real-time.

The range of Synergy Cloud Services will grow and change over time. They currently include:

• Disaster Recoveryreplicates Synergy databases securely in the cloud to help protect critical business data from fire, flood, robbery or service failure (Synergy Enterprise clients only).
• Web and mobile applicationsenter timesheets and expenses and look up projects and contacts online from any computer, tablet or smart phone with a web browser (Synergy Enterprise clients only).
• Accountspay any outstanding invoices for your Total Synergy products and services, change the invoice frequency or method of payment and edit your company's contact details.
• Supportlog a request for assistance on the helpdesk, watch training videos, download installation files and review training manuals.

Why use Synergy Cloud Services?

Store a complete copy of your Synergy database in a secure location in the Cloud. New features have been introduced to Synergy which will utilise the bi-directional data flow between the on premise database and the cloud database.

Synergy Cloud Services gives you the freedom to access key Synergy data through ANY computer, smart phone or tablet – work, home or on the go – at a time that suits you.

Cloud Services Setup Overview

The setup process will vary dependant on what area of Synergy Cloud Services you want to gain access to.

Accounts and Support setup

Access to Accounts and Support does not require any configuration or sign-up. These areas of Synergy Cloud Services are provided by default to all Total Synergy clients. As a new company using Synergy Cloud Services the access to accounts and support is granted to the two users setup as Account Managers. The account managers are normally the staff members from your company that are listed on the Synergy license documents. The account managers can add additional staff members to be granted access to the Support area, so that they can log a request for assistance on the helpdesk.

Account Managers can update which users can access Support by:

1. Log into Synergy Cloud Services at www.synergycloudapp.com
2. Select 'Account' on the Home screen for your company's database.
3. Select the 'Security' button in the top toolbar.
4. Type the email address for the three additional users that will be granted access to Support.
5. Save.

Tip: Account managers will also have access to Support, without having to be listed in the Security Settings > Support Access.

Disaster recovery and web and mobile applications setup

Synergy enterprise clients can request to sign-up to use disaster recovery and the web and mobile applications. The setup process for these areas of Synergy Cloud Services is:

1. When you sign up for Synergy Cloud Services a copy of your Synergy Database is stored in the cloud using Microsoft Windows Azure.
2. To get started a Synergy consultant will assist you in configuring a location for your company database within Microsoft Azure, and configuring the Cloud Sync Application.
3. The Cloud Sync Application will update the data stored in the cloud, using Windows Task Scheduler running the application every X number of minutes.
4. The bi-directional data flow between the on premise database and the cloud database, means that data you enter in the Cloud will appear in the on-premise database.
5. All data stored in the Cloud is secure, and can only be accessed by authenticated users from your company. To learn more about the security of your Synergy data in Microsoft Windows Azure view this website.
