Firewall settings on 2008 Server

Set Windows 2008 firewall to allow private / domain connections to the server

Windows 2008 Server and above, has default firewall settings that disable inbound connections for domain connections and private connections. This has the effect of preventing client computers connecting to the SQL services running on the server. The server’s local firewall needs to be opened to allow domain user access to the server. Should users be accessing the system via VPN access, this may also need to be opened up to Private access (depending upon the Remote Access Server configuration).

Please contact your IT department for assistance in adjusting Firewall settings.
