Import or export vCards

vCards are essentially an electronic business card enabling you to send yours or someone else's business details via email. We've developed a function where you can import vCards that may have been attached in an email or that you've exported from another application. You can also export a Contact from Synergy that can then be imported to any application that accepts vCards or .vcf file format.

Tip: This is designed for anyone that is not able to Sync Contacts using MS Outlook®.

Export vCards from Synergy

ClosedComplete the following steps
  1. Open a Company, Personnel or Individual contact in Synergy.
  2. Select the Action menu.
  3. Select Export as vCard.
  4. Enter a file name and save to your computer.

  1. The vCard can now be imported to another application, such as MS Outlook®.

Import vCards to Synergy

ClosedComplete the following steps
  1. Create a vCard - either Saved from an email attachment or exported from an application that supports vCard export.
  2. Open the Contacts Module in Synergy.
  3. Drag and drop the .vcf vCard into the Contacts list.
  4. A message will prompt if you're sure you want to do this, select Yes.

Tip: A vCard record that has a Company name and personnel details will be imported as one Contact record and then one Personnel record in Synergy.

Updating contacts

If you've imported a vCard to MS Outlook® that originated from Synergy, the next time you reimport the vCard to MS Outlook®, the vCard will update the information stored in MS Outlook®. Though this won't work the other way e.g. importing a vCard to Synergy will create a new record. If the Contact exists in Synergy already, the information won't be updated.

Import vCards to MS Outlook®

ClosedComplete the following steps
  1. Export the vCard from Synergy and save it to the desktop.
  2. Open the Contacts module in MS Outlook®.
  3. Drag and drop the .vcf file into the Contacts module.

Tip: This can also be done via the File > Import and Export menu within MS Outlook®.

Email a vCard from MS Outlook®

ClosedComplete the following steps
  1. Open the Contacts module in MS Outlook®.
  2. Select a Contact file.
  3. Right click the Contact.
  4. Select Send as Business Card.
  5. The vCard is attached to the email message.
  6. The recipient can then right click the attachment and select Add to Contacts.

Tip: This can be done with multiple contacts in one go.
