Using MYOB Connect on a Windows 8 PC
When attempting to run Synergy on a Windows 8 PC for the first time your may receive the following error message:
Solution
To resolve this error Synergy must be run in Administrator
mode. Complete the following steps:
Using Windows Start Menu:
- Open the start menu.
- Navigate to 'Synergyx86 (Compatibility Mode)' icon in the list.
- Click on the icon and select the 'Run this program
as an Administrator' button in the bottom toolbar.
- When you double click to launch Synergy using this icon, the User Account Control (UAC) will warn you about the change for Synergy to be run as Administrator. Click Yes to proceed and open Synergy.
Using Windows Desktop:
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Navigate to the Synergy installation folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Total Synergy\bin, where C:\ represents the drive where Synergy has been installed.
- Find the file called 'SynergyX86.exe' in the list.
- Right mouse click on the file and select 'Create Shortcut' in the menu.
- Click 'Yes' on the message "Windows can't create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?".
- Go to the desktop and locate the "SynergyX86 - Shortcut" icon.
- Right mouse click and select Properties in the menu.
- Select the compatibility tab.
- In the "Privilege Level' section check the box 'Run this program
as an Administrator' and press OK.
- When double click the icon to open Synergy, the User Account Control (UAC) will warn you about the change for Synergy to be run as Administrator. Click Yes to proceed and open Synergy.
