What is the Costs and Revenue Report?
View the difference between the monthly project revenue, and the monthly costs to complete the project work in the Graph. This report is calculated using the invoiced transactions and cost totals shown the Data tab. The type of cost shown can be either Standard or Actual costs, which is controlled using the Settings panel options.
The invoice and cost data is displayed for a 12 month period, where the invoice data is shown based on the invoice date for the transaction. The invoice value shown is excluding tax. Credit, Cancelled Invoice and Write Off values fall into the month the original invoice was created within (not the month of the credit date). Draft invoices are excluded from the report data.
Add the 'Costs and Revenue plugin' to the My Synergy dashboard to see the details as you login to Synergy. Double click on the plugin to open the Management report.
Why use the Costs and Revenue Report?

- Graph
This displays in blue the invoiced revenue value for each month over a 12 month period. In pink the cost of the invoiced transactions is shown for each month over a 12 month period. The cost shown is either Standard or Actual costs, depending on which option is selected in the Setting panel. Administrator access level can only view Standard Costs. To learn more about Standard and Actual Project Cost review the Project Profitability topic. The graph displays 12 months of data, which are the current month and the previous 11 months.
- Data Tab
A row is shown for each month that invoice data or cost exists for a project. The project number is not shown, as if there are multiple projects with the same project manager, sub project manager, cost centre, and discipline displayed then they are all merged together to show on the same row. The cost shown on this tab can be changed to be either Standard or Actual costs, using the controls in the Settings panel. Administrator access level can only view Standard Costs. To learn more about Standard and Actual Project Costs review the Project Profitability topic. The data tab can be exported to MS Excel®.
Tip:Credit values fall into the month the original invoice was created within (not the month of the credit note date). Draft invoices are excluded from the report. The Invoice value shown is excluding tax.
The report opens with all the filters selected. This displays the total revenue value invoiced for each month compared to the costs. The graph and data tab are interactive, and they will automatically update as the filters are changed. To learn more about how to apply filters and other management report basics, please review the Management Reports overview topic.
