Project Copy
Open Project List and choose the project you want to copy to create the new project, then select the Copy button.
What is Project Copy?
Create a new project by selecting an existing project to use as a template with Project Copy. Choose if you want to copy across the Project general details, Project contacts, Project team, Phases grouping and/or sub projects, Sub project custom tasks and linked budgets, and the existing drawing register.
Enter any mandatory attributes on the project before the new project can be saved. The project audit tracks which project number was copied to create the new project.
Why use Project Copy?
Use the data from an existing project to form the basis of a new project to save time in the project creation process when the details, contacts and sub projects are similar.
How to use Project Copy
Complete the following steps
- Highlight the project in the list that you want to copy the details from.
- Click the Copy button
in the toolbar and the Project Copy window opens.
- General Tab.Start by selecting which of the details from the General Tab you want to copy to the new project.
- Click the Copy button
next to each of the items to populate the data from the project being copied. - Choose the Project Office from the list (if multi office is enabled).
- Choose the Project Status.
- Update any of the copied General Project Details as required (i.e. Reference Name, Site Address etc).
NOTE:Reference names must be unique.
- Contacts Tab. Select the Contacts Tab and choose which of the Project Contacts you want to copy.
- Team Tab. Choose which of the Project Team members you want to copy. This step is only required if Project Teams is used.
- Sub Projects Tab. Choose which of the Phases, Sub Projects, and Fees you want to copy. Use the Tasks option to copy the linked sub project tasks (standard and custom tasks) and the Sub Project Budget.

- Drawing Register Tab. Choose which project drawings you want to copy.

- Attributes Tab.Enter the attribute values for the new project.
- Save. and the new project created will open.
Actions available
Select which of the Project details you will copy to the new project:
Copy the Contacts
- Select Project Copy > Contacts tab.
- Copy selected contacts by checking the box in the first column for each of the contacts you want to copy.
- Copy all contacts by using the 'Select All' button
in the toolbar.
- Bold text is shown for all contacts that will be copied.
- Unselect all
will remove the checkmark from all contacts selected to be copied.
- Primary contact can be chosen by checking the box in the 'Primary' column.
- Invoice contact can be chosen by checking the box in the 'Invoice' column.
Copy the Team (only required if Project Teams is used)
- Select Project Copy > Team Tab.
- Copy selected team staff by checking the box in the first column for each staff member you want to copy to be in the project team.
- Copy all team staff by using the 'Select All' button
in the toolbar.
- Unselect all
will remove the checkmark from all staff selected to be copied.
Add Attributes to the new project
- Select Project Copy > Attributes tab.
- Mandatory attributesare shown in blue and must be completed before the project can be created.
- Optional attributesare extra information about the project being created. Fill in these attributes in if required.
- Clear the attribute value by selecting the row and clicking the eraser button
.
- Hide unused attributes button
in the toolbar will hide the display of all non populated attributes. This cannot be used until the mandatory attributes have been entered.
